Correction - Bioenergy Wednesday, 14-Sep-2011
Dear Sir,
I'd like to make a correction to the "Forest Industry looks to biofuel" piece.
The reporter has misinterpreted something; as reported it says "200,000 tonnes a year of landing residues could be converted to biofuels"
What I said was the around 200,000 tonnes of forest residue per year is being used, for industrial heat production.
The actual volume of forest residues potentially available (excluding steep terrain cutover)is around 2.3 million tonnes per annum, with 1.1 million tonnes at landings.
Total wood residues (forest, municipal and wood processing) is around 3.5 million tonnes (or 25 petajoules of energy).
Regards, Peter Hall
