Account Manager Forestry

We design and manage qualifications to make sure our workforce is highly skilled.  We cover entry level to advanced technical trades qualifications.

The Account Manager, Forestry will be responsible for promoting, developing, managing and arranging training and assessments for Forestry customers, becoming their trusted advisor.

You will do this by working with employers, providers, trainees and other relevant parties to successfully implement workplace based training and manage completions of Forestry qualifications as well as coaching and mentoring workplace assessors.

You will have an absolute focus on the customer, engaging at all levels within their business, partnering and taking an enterprise wide approach.

Our ideal candidate will have the following skills and attributes   

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a customer focused account manager role.
  • Sales Training and/or qualification/or experience will be of advantage 
  • Workplace Assessor and/or Moderator experience would be of advantage is not essential
  • Understanding or qualifications in Education/ Training industry OR Forestry industry related qualifications / experience
  • Strong planning and organisational skills with the ability to manage own territory effectively and efficiently to meet the needs of the customer
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • High level of computer literacy; proficient in Microsoft office suite
Please note this role is based in the Bay of Plenty region however we have some flexibility as to where the role is based in this region.

Log Processing Specialist

Job Description:
Timberlands Limited (TL) is a leading NZ based Forest Management Company with expertise in forest management and operations on a significant scale. Based in Rotorua, TL manage 190,000ha of forest in the central North Island with an annual harvest of 4.4 million tonnes, and 32 log and stem crews.

We are seeking an experienced Log Processing Specialist on a service contract basis (initial 12-month term).

We are looking for an individual with the following attributes:

  • An experienced processer operator
  • Has a passion for harvesting and quality log products
  • A real people person who can train log processing operators as required
  • Able to differentiate between machine setup and quality issues to improve quality outturn from crews
  • Understands the CPU’s (central processing units) of the four main brands (Woodsman, Waratah, Satco and Southstar) - not limited
  • Can check and advise on machine file setups
  • Can learn and understand TL’s log grades and specs
  • Mechanical experience preferred, so doesn’t mind getting dirty
  • Can prepare and report findings in a timely manner
  • A strong Health and Safety focus
This is an in-forest role with very limited time in office.

PLT Technical Sales Manager

Job Description:
Want to take a lead position in developing a brand new business for Taranakipine within the rapidly expanding off-site construction market using engineered wood products?

Over the past two years we have identified and developed a market opportunity based on delivering parallel laminated timber (PLT) panels to the construction industry. Our first product is a floor panel system; factory ready for direct installation into a building.

Taranakipine is looking for a driven individual who will develop market leads from customers (architects, engineers, builders, developers) taking initial enquiries for our PLT panels through to order confirmation, then delivery. The measure of success for this role is rapid year on year growth of Taranakipine’s Woodspan PLT panel business.

Based in New Plymouth, Taranakipine is a producer of engineered timber building products supplying to NZ and international customers. We start with the raw log and manufacture all steps through to the finished product.

The role:

  • Develop sales leads directly with the construction industry. Work with them in building design to ensure Woodspan PLT Panels can be specified in plans
  • Be the first point of call for all customers enquiries providing both commercial and technical responses
  • Take confirmed orders, coordinate through manufacturing ensuring delivery on time as per specifications
  • Further develop and maintain our design and installation guides
  • Be part of the marketing and product development programs
  • Position based in New Plymouth
The person:
  • Self-motivated, accurate, full of initiative, and a flair for developing new business
  • Proven interpersonal and communication skills
  • Extensive experience working in the building and construction industry
  • Passionate about building with engineered timber products
  • Technically competent on all things “buildings” – systems, standards, IT, engineering, fire, acoustics …
  • A relevant tertiary qualification would be ideal

The Investigating Officer role is integral to achieving this mission – are you up for the challenge?

This Project Lead role will co-ordinate all aspects of the forestry regulation under the National Environmental Standard for Production Forestry and the Resource Management Act, including consents, monitoring and enforcement.

Your excellent communication and negotiation skills will come to the fore in advising, advocating and educating the public and resource users on the sustainable and safe use of Taranaki’s natural resources. The ability to assist with consent investigation and reporting and strong computer skills are also required. Regulation of industrial and other rural activities could also be undertaken. Hours of work include being part of a 24-hour on call roster, approximately one week in every eleven.

Applicants will demonstrate experience in forestry operations and practices, ideally reinforced with a relevant tertiary qualification. Knowledge of the Resource Management Act 1991 would be an advantage. A current driver’s licence for a manual vehicle is essential.
