A progressive forestry management company, Tasman Pine Forests has been set up by Sumitomo Forestry to manage their forest holding throughout the Nelson region. An exciting opportunity exists for a talented Harvest Planner to join the team.

In this key role you will have responsibility for planning the execution of harvesting activities, assisting with annual harvest budgets, value recovery and liaising with key community stakeholders. You will also be responsible for managing harvest and infrastructure contractors ensuring high workplace health, safety and environmental standards. You will work autonomously and collaboratively in a small but dedicated team.

The successful candidate will have sound practical experience in harvesting or forestry operations, an appropriate qualification, excellent relationship management skills and a strong and pragmatic knowledge of health, safety and environmental standards.

The Company has a vacancy in its Turangi office for a Forest Information Analyst to manage the company’s land and forest record systems.

Applicants should have experience with ArcGIS, and/or a minimum of a university degree qualification in forestry, GIS or a related discipline.

Preference will be given to applicants with relevant experience. Knowledge of forest operations and an understanding of land tenure would be useful.

Forest Information & GIS System Analyst

Job Description:
A progressive forestry management company, Tasman Pine Forests has been set up by Sumitomo Forestry to manage their 36,000 hectares forest holding throughout the Nelson region. An exciting opportunity exists for a proven Forest Information System/GIS specialist to join the team.

Reporting to the General Manager this role will take ownership for the maintenance and management of the Forest Information and Mapping System. A key responsibility for this role being the provision of internal information services, spatial and mapping data, to ensure the team have ready access to the information required to plan their activities. This includes collection and interpretation of spatial data, ensuring data integrity and accuracy and validating data provided by external sources.

This key role also has responsibility for managing third parties who provide certain GIS functions and the IT support service contracts and for on-going development of mobile solutions for access to GIS data in the field.

The successful candidate is a talented individual who has experience in GIS/Spatial systems with ArcGIS mapping and other ESRI software and with automation (data driven maps, models or python) and schema or systems design. They will also have highly developed analytical skills, strong communication skills and ability to build strong and productive working relationships across the team. Experience in mapping in the forest industry an advantage.

Job Description:
A progressive forestry management company, Tasman Pine Forests has been set up by Sumitomo Forestry to manage their 36,000 hectares forest holding throughout the Nelson region. An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced and proactive HSE Sustainability Advisor to join the team.

Reporting to the General Manager this role is focused on co-ordinating the Company’s health, safety, environmental requirements and creating more sustainable ways of operating.

Key responsibilities are ongoing management and monitoring of an industry specific HSE system including the activities of audits, risk assessments, incident investigations, reporting, environmental submissions and consent applications. As well as, liaising and building strong relationships with stakeholders including neighbours, Iwi and forest users including participating in public engagements and consultation.

A key part of this role is also monitoring sustainability of practices and introducing a range of new sustainability focused innovations into the operations.

With a proven HSE background you’ll ideally have experience with forestry codes of practice. You will be experienced in stakeholder management, risk assessments and the relevant HSE legislation. You will have exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of people.. Most of all you will be passionate about developing and managing an organisational culture committed to health, safety, the environment and sustainability.

Our headquarters is located in Victoria, Australia.

Due to an exciting growth phase, we currently have an outstanding opportunity within our small team for a suitably qualified candidate who wishes to further develop their impressive career within our Pulp & Paper business area. Specifically, this role plays a pivotal part in the continued development of our unique Andritz Knife System, in the Whole Log Chipping and Sawmilling market, across the Australian Region.

Based in Melbourne at our AUS/NZ head office, responsibilities of this role include;

  • Sales of capital units (new and replacement) in the Whole Log Chipper and Sawmill Industries throughout Australia
  • The promotion of new technologies, and/or replacement or modernization of machinery and parts in the Whole Log Chipper and Sawmill Industries throughout Australia
  • Working with customers to optimize their operations and processes.
  • Identification of opportunities in the Whole Log Chipper and Sawmill Industries across Australia to replace existing equipment
  • Condition assessment and diagnosis of machinery and parts at site including thorough understanding of detailed drawings, specifications and relevant processes
  • Undertake Field service and routine inspections of Andritz installed equipment and preparation of reports
  • Coordinate the management of maintenance, repairs and upgrades of the installed assets
  • Engage suppliers, subcontractors, clients and other stakeholders as required, in the delivery of services
  • Identify and document ne commercial opportunities
  • Maintain a strong focus on customer satisfaction through a robust Key Account Management process
The ideal candidate has a Mechanical/Industrial Engineering background and will preferably bring a strong process and machinery understanding, relative to Saw Milling and Whole Log Chippers.

Whilst a background in sales is preferred, individuals who have excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrate a strong ability to influence others and are results focused, will also be highly regarded.

This is an exceptional opportunity for those who consider themselves to be already at the top their game, to broaden their capabilities with a world leading Industrial OEM. In addition to the opportunity to utilise your engineering proficiency, you will receive extensive training on our equipment and processes at various production locations such as Germany, Austria and the USA within the first 12-18 months. Therefore a willingness and ability to travel extensively is paramount to the success of this role.
